Panel Backend

v1.0.563

Minor Release Released October 20, 2026

Link a domain or subdomain to a VPS the way Docker containers are linked (VPS Manager, beta)

New Features

5
  • VPS Manager: a domain or a subdomain can now be linked to a VPS, the way Docker containers are linked. The panel's web server sends the site's visitors to a port of the VPS (for example 80 or 8080). No port forwarding is needed and the SSL certificate stays in the panel.
  • HTTP or HTTPS towards the VPS is detected automatically, or chosen when linking. A linked site with a certificate redirects HTTP to HTTPS, as Docker-linked sites do.
  • Only the VPS owner's domains can be linked. A domain or subdomain that is already linked to a Docker container, a Node.js, Python or Laravel app or another VPS, that is suspended, or that is being moved between accounts is refused, and the reason is shown.
  • API: GET and POST /isolated/environments/{id}/domains, DELETE /isolated/environments/{id}/domains/{link_id}, GET /isolated/environments/{id}/domains/candidates and GET /isolated/domain-links?domain_id={id}, on the panel API and the external API.
  • CLI: panelica isolated domains list, candidates, link and unlink, and panelica isolated domain-links.

Improvements

11
  • This is a beta release. Problems may occur: please try it on a server you can watch before relying on it, and tell us about anything that does not work as expected. VPS Manager is a beta: use it only as you need it.
  • Unlinking puts the domain's own web server configuration back, built from its current settings (for example a PHP version changed while the domain was linked). If that cannot be done, the configuration from before the link is restored.
  • Deleting a VPS first returns its linked domains to their own configuration; if that fails, the VPS is not deleted. Removing VPS Manager does the same for every VPS.
  • When a VPS changes between its private address and a dedicated IP, its linked domains follow the new address.
  • A linked domain keeps pointing to the VPS through PHP version changes, certificate issuance and other configuration updates. If its configuration was overwritten, it is put back when the panel starts.
  • While a VPS is stopped, the sites linked to it show the panel's error page within a few seconds, and the site comes back as soon as the VPS runs again.
  • Moving a domain to another account is refused while the domain or one of its subdomains is linked to a VPS, with a link to that VPS. Changing the web server and installing or detecting WordPress are refused the same way; bulk WordPress actions skip such domains.
  • Linking and unlinking use the existing VPS permission 'Link domains'; seeing the links needs 'View VPS'. No new permission is added.
  • Database migration 000634 adds the table that stores VPS domain links.
  • Site migration: check every site after a migration; some manual steps may still be needed.
  • Contains every change of 1.0.562 (beta).
